Job Summary: Provide husbandry of pets, direct care and maintenance of kennels, hospital wards, and surroundings. Must treat animals with care and respect, work well with dogs and cats. Keeping pets and kennels clean, monitor, and manage pet care responsibilities daily. Education and Experience: \xe2\x80\xa2 High school diploma or equivalent. Dependable attendance is required. \xe2\x80\xa2 Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication. \xe2\x80\xa2 Must be able to lift 40 pounds. \xe2\x80\xa2 Must be willing to work flexible hours, and a split-shift on the weekends and holidays. \xe2\x80\xa2 This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a scheduled shift of 8, 10, or 12 hours as assigned. \xe2\x80\xa2 Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone. Duties: The following is a partial list of essential job responsibilities. This list may be revised at any time and additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed in nursing care, housekeeping, and maintenance of the hospital. Nursing Care: \xe2\x80\xa2 Compassionate nursing care is the top priority for all patients. \xe2\x80\xa2 Keep kennels clean, orderly and free of odors. \xe2\x80\xa2 Feed patients as scheduled. \xe2\x80\xa2 Exercise (walk) patients. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure the comfort and cleanliness of hospitalized or boarding pets. \xe2\x80\xa2 Bathe or clean pets immediately that become soiled. Housekeeping and Maintenance of Hospital: \xe2\x80\xa2 Stock supplies as needed. \xe2\x80\xa2 Keep the exterior of the hospital clean and orderly. \xe2\x80\xa2 Janitorial care of the hospital facility \xe2\x80\xa2 Make certain entire hospital, including treatment, surgery, kennels and runs are kept extremely clean through the day. \xe2\x80\xa2 Advise management of any conditions that are unsafe or hazardous.
