OR Manager is responsible for the planning, executing, directing and evaluating direct and indirect nursing care given to the surgical patient. The nursing care ranges from preoperative intervention onto postoperative evaluation. It is a practice designed to meet a patient's need through the nursing process ensuring continuity of care during surgical experience. This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.

Directs and administers Nursing Services which include the overall operations, administration, planning and fiscal viability of Operating Room/Surgical Services and Sterile Processing Department
Ensures compliance with all organizational, state, federal and local regulatory laws and standards of practice
Responsible for establishment and maintenance of procedures, policies and standards.
Provides vision and action in designing and maintaining an efficient and effective nursing care delivery system.
Supervises and directs personnel in the OR, OPS, Endoscopy and Sterile Processing Department.
Acts as a circulating nurse or scrub nurse as needed. Experience in the care of the surgical patient from admission to discharge.
Directs and assists constructively with orientation of new employee.
Supervises staff to provide optimum assurance of safe environment. Responsible for staff development and education.
Holds regularly scheduled monthly staff meetings as well as provides monthly in-services.
Responsible for OR staffing 24 hours 7 days a week.
Can function in other nursing areas if needed.
Maintains good rapport with physicians and employees.
Performs duties in a professional and pleasant manner.
Identifies and resolves conflict constructively.
Ensures proper function and maintenance of equipment and contracted services.
Interact efficiently and pleasantly with other departments, physicians, peers and vendors to assure continuity of quality patient care and to promote an environment conducive to team work.
Plans and develops objectives in conjunction with performance evaluation and improvement of staff.
Remains flexible, adaptive and able to accept and implement new ideas and approaches
Knowledgeable regarding Patient's Rights, hospital and nursing policies and the functions of other departments within the hospital, fire and safety regulations, electrical hazards, disaster plans and infection control policies.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: DESCRIPTION
1. EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, RN program; BSN preferred
2. LICENSURE Current RN licensure with ASBN
Certified in CPR, ACLS, PALS & NRP
Must have a valid driver's license
3. EXPERIENCE Minimum 3 years surgical experience
Minimum 1 year leadership experience
4. SKILLS Must be capable of communicating clearly
Must be knowledgeable in function of OR, OPS, PACU, and SPD
Acts as circulating nurse or scrub nurse as needed Can function in other nursing areas if needed
Maintains good rapport with physicians and employees
Knowledgeable in proper function and maintenance of equipment
Identifies and resolves conflict constructively
Demonstrates competence in HIPPA, Infection Contol, Safety, Risk Management and security measures

6. PHYSICAL EFFORT Regularly required to stand for long periods of time, reach, walk, stoop and bend, must lift or move patients. Must transport patients in a wheelchair or stretcher.
7. HOURS OF WORK 0700-1500 Monday-Friday and assist with call coverage 24/7
