Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician / Receptionist to join our team. This dual-role position involves providing exceptional patient care while managing front desk responsibilities in a fast-paced optometry clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office procedures, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping patients with their vision needs.

Duties

Assist with patient intake, including gathering medical history and vital signs. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Conduct preliminary eye exams and tests using various equipment. Maintain aseptic techniques during all patient interactions and procedures. Manage medical records and documentation accurately within EMR systems. Provide optical assistance, including frame selection and retail sales support. Handle front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and managing patient inquiries. Collaborate with the optometrist to ensure smooth clinic operations and patient flow. Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and proper eyewear care. Support billing and coding processes as needed.

Skills

Strong patient care skills with an emphasis on empathy and communication. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic ophthalmology concepts. Experience with EMR systems. Retail experience with an understanding of retail math for optical sales. Proficient in handling medical records and understanding medical billing/coding processes. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Previous experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.
