Mini Excavator Operator - Telecommunications Vault Installation

Overview

Conkel Construction, LLC is seeking a skilled Mini Excavator Operator to join our underground telecom installation crew. This position plays a key role in supporting the installation of vaults for internet and fiber optic infrastructure across Arizona.

Responsibilities

Operate a mini excavator safely and efficiently to dig vault holes for fiber optic and telecommunications systems. Excavate to precise depths and dimensions according to project specifications. Load and manage spoils -- ensuring material is placed into the dump trailer while leaving a proper amount on a tarp for backfill once the vault is set. Assist the crew with site setup, vault placement, and restoration of work areas. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns. Maintain a clean and organized worksite while adhering to all company and safety standards.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience operating a mini excavator (preferred in underground or telecom work). Ability to work efficiently in a small crew environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus but not required.

Compensation

Competitive hourly pay based on experience. Weekly performance bonuses available based on vault installation goals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
