Position Summary

NRDC is seeking an Associate for Mid-level Giving to work with the Membership team in our New York office. This colleague would be responsible for coordinating the weekly acknowledgment program to our mid-level members, answering phone calls, and managing correspondence and database maintenance for the Friends of NRDC, the Council of 1000 and The President\xe2\x80\x99s Circle programs, which raise more than $26M annually to NRDC. Additionally, the Associate for Mid-level Giving will manage a portfolio of members that give at the $500-$1000 level.

We are looking for a development professional with a minimum of 2+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the field of direct mail and/or mid-level fundraising who is enthusiastic, warm, highly organized, and has a keen interest in nature and the environment. Must have the ability to handle simultaneous, ongoing projects.

A desirable candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, interest in people, and a desire to significantly increase income from a select segment of NRDC\xe2\x80\x99s Membership. Working knowledge of computer databases and an interest in using new technology for fundraising is required.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and supervise the mailing of the weekly mid-level acknowledgment letters
  • Act as point of contact for portfolio of mid-level donors and conduct personal outreach to these donors via phone and email
  • Maintain and update mid-level donor records and files
  • Track and resolve inquiries from mid-level donors coming in through email, phone, and postal mail
  • Liaise with the Major Gifts, Donor Relations, and the Donor Systems teams in Development to coordinate stewardship efforts and data management
  • Assist with member events and webinars
  • Assist with all fundraising and cultivation mailings - both postal and email - to mid-level donors
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 3+ years fundraising or related experience
  • Enthusiastic, outgoing, and can handle simultaneous, ongoing projects
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills to engage and cultivate relationships with donors along the pipeline
  • Keen interest in people and a desire to significantly increase income from a select segment of the mid-level giving program
  • Efficient multi-tasker and flexible in working towards philanthropy goals
  • Working knowledge of computer databases and Microsoft Office is required
  • Keen interest in nature and the environment is preferred

We offer competitive salaries, , and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $63,000 to $72,000.

Our offices are open and we are operating in a hybrid model. We offer NRDCers flexibility, and we ask them to come into the office and spend meaningful time there in collaboration with their colleagues. We call this purposeful presence.
