JOB POSITION: Communications Associate The Communications Associate is a 6-month temporary position to help the GLBT Historical Society expand our reach primarily through digital communications and social media outreach. The Communications Associate will help to curate written and graphic content for our email newsletters, draft information for upcoming event and exhibition announcements, and help to curate and create social media content. The ideal candidate will have experience managing brand accounts, speaking through an organizational voice, and a passion for LGBTQ history. This is a fully-remote, temporary, part-time position with a flexible schedule, working between 5-10 hours per week. The Communications Associate reports to the Director of Development & Communications (DDC) and collaborates with team members from across the organization on communications and outreach projects. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Press Outreach \xe2\x97\x8f Draft text for webpages to accompany new initiatives, exhibitions and events. \xe2\x97\x8f Draft text for new initiatives, event and exhibition press releases. Social Media \xe2\x97\x8f Curate or create social media content to promote new initiatives, exhibitions and events. \xe2\x97\x8f Curate or create social media content to highlight archival collections, donation, membership, and store items. Newsletter \xe2\x97\x8f Draft text and help select relevant images for newsletters. Other \xe2\x97\x8f Track and collect media coverage, and prepare monthly summary reports. \xe2\x97\x8f Review published materials to ensure they are appropriately proofread. \xe2\x97\x8f Attend regular meetings with supervisor and other staff, as needed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS \xe2\x97\x8f 1-2 years of communications experience. \xe2\x97\x8f Proficiency with social media content management and development for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. \xe2\x97\x8f Interest in LGBTQ history and culture. \xe2\x97\x8f Experience working with LGBTQ communities. \xe2\x97\x8f Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as proven time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS \xe2\x97\x8f Experience working with MailChimp. \xe2\x97\x8f Experience working with Squarespace. \xe2\x97\x8f Experience working with Canva, or another design program. \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to speak Spanish or another non-English language is a bonus. \xe2\x97\x8f Experience working with Salesforce is a bonus, but not necessary. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to communicate via email, phone and in person. \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to work remotely. POSITION DETAILS & COMPENSATION \xe2\x97\x8f This is a part-time (5-10 hours/week) non-exempt (hourly) temporary position for 6-months. \xe2\x97\x8f The wage for this position is $25/hour, including paid sick leave. The GLBT Historical Society offers paid sick leave in accordance with California and San Francisco City and County paid sick leave law. \xe2\x97\x8f Working hours are flexible, with weekly and monthly deliverables. \xe2\x97\x8f This is a fully remote position, with a preference for candidates in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.
