Position Summary

The Medical Lab Scientist/Medical Lab Technician position provides services to patients and physicians through the collection, processing, and performance of clinical laboratory testing on specimens from infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Responsible for meeting the established standards of practice and patient care, supplies and equipment, and for coordinating team work with all members of the health care team.

This position will be cross trained to support our Lakeville and Northfield Urgent Care Clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtains blood specimens using proper aseptic techniques including venipunctures and fingersticks.
  • Follows the laboratory\'s procedures for specimen handling and possessing, test analysis, and reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Performs waived and moderately complex laboratory testing.
  • Performs and documents quality control, instrument maintenance and calibration.
  • Follows the laboratory\'s established corrective action policies and procedures whenever a test system is not within the laboratory\'s established levels of acceptance.
Selection Criteria:
  • College degree in Laboratory Science or two year MLT graduate
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified or eligible
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification (or obtain within six months of hire, company paid)
  • Minimum of one year experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Clinical Point of Care laboratory testing is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Scope:
  • 48hrs/2wks
  • Monday-Friday: 8\xe2\x80\x9312-hour shifts varying between 7:00am-8:00pm
  • Weekends: 8:00am-4:30pm rotation
  • Holidays: As needed
