job summary:
A Mechanical Project Engineer is needed for a leading manufacturing organization in the southern Atlanta metro area (Fairburn). The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for reviewing, auditing, and assisting the development around preventive/ predictive maintenance programs centered on Pressure Vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, codes, and company practices. The role requires a thorough understanding of pressure vessel systems, hazards associated with their operation, and commitment to safety and quality.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 3+ years\' of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in pressure vessels and related systems. The ideal candidate should possess an understanding of relevant laws, codes, and industry practices governing pressure vessels, along with proven expertise in managing and implementing pressure vessel preventative maintenance programs. Candidates should also be proficient with Solidworks and MS Excel. This is a contract role slated to last 5+ months, and our client is only seeking local talent at this time.

responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the Pressure Vessel program at the site, ensuring all aspects of the program align with company standards and local regulations; Work closely with site leadership to secure adequate resources for program implementation
  • Ensure all pressure vessels are designed and constructed in accordance with relevant laws, codes, and company practices; Verify the capability, design pressure, materials, weld detail, and fabrication quality of pressure vessels through competent evaluations
  • Implement an effective change management system to review and assess any proposed changes to pressure vessel systems; Identify and address potential new risks associated with changes, regardless of the vessel\'s size
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to pressure vessels, including Manufacturer\'s Data Reports, U1 Forms, nameplate data, Pressure Vessel Design and Inspection (PVD&I) sheets, inspection reports, thickness measurements, repair and alteration documentation
  • Evaluate proposed repairs and alterations to pressure vessels, ensuring they do not compromise mechanical integrity
  • Oversee and document all Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) activities for pressure vessels, tracking and resolving any deficiencies promptly
  • Interface with site maintenance teams on the development of predictive and preventative maintenance programs on pressure vessels throughout the facility
