Job Description


OSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Supervisor, NSSS Systems Analysis, the person in this role applies technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision making to perform analyses of the fluid systems within the NuScale Power Plant nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) to support advancement of the design. They will utilize a strong analytical background, and prior experience with transient analysis and/or flow induced vibration in collaboration with the rest of the team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uses thermal-hydraulic software and engineering tools to perform analyses on the design and performance of NSSS systems.
  • Performs and checks engineering evaluations in accordance with NuScale company procedures, by applying sound engineering thermal hydraulics and structural mechanics fundamentals, including familiarity with standard system analysis software (e.g. RELAP, ANSYS).
  • Prepares, checks, and reviews calculations and reports in the field of flow-induced vibration.
  • Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Mentors and trains other engineers in sound approaches and standards for solving problems in technical areas of expertise.
  • Self-manages workload and deadlines
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
  • Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) is required. A registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering license (P.E.) is desired. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of full-time working experience as a thermal-hydraulic engineer is required. Must demonstrate excellent technical writing capabilities as well as good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills. Must be well organized with the ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases. Additional experience in the following areas is desired:
    • Analysis of system performance and transient operations, including water hammer, high energy line break, steam generator heat transfer, compartment heating/pressurization
    • Use of software: RELAP, ANSYS (Mechanical and CFD), GOTHIC, plus normal office software
    • Analysis of components for flow induced vibration mechanisms, as well as experience with vibration testing and data analysis
    • Computer programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab)
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Comp Range: $ 109,048 - $170,562 Note: The salaries are influenced by relatable work experience and education, equity within the department, and comp ratio in relation to the mid-point of the pay range. NuScale\xe2\x80\x99s compensation information is commensurate with market data. #remote
