Spirit of America seeks an experienced Marketing Director to lead its efforts to build out awareness and create support for the organization, its mission and programs among key audiences such as media/press, foreign policy analysts and institutions, opinion leaders, cultural and policy influencers, and brand partners with aligned audiences and values.

A strong candidate will have experience managing all aspects of public relations and related coverage goals, analyst and industry relations, speaking and events, influencer marketing, and brand partnership marketing. You will want to be as comfortable leveraging social and media listening data and insights, as you are crafting a compelling story for the Wall Street Journal or MSNBC. The Marketing Director for Media, Influencer & Partnerships reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and will join a high-performing team that is elevating Spirit of America\xe2\x80\x99s brand and position at a time of growing demand and rapid organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

Press/Media Outreach & Coverage

  • Understand media trends.
  • Set communications goals.
  • Lead story development, media relations, outreach, coverage and reactive/crisis PR; calendaring and pitching.
  • Help capture, write, design, and pitch/publish stories that grow awareness and credibility for the organization and its programs.
  • Utilize and manage freelance and/or agency resources as needed.
Analysts & Institutions Partnerships
  • Identify and build out our bench of foreign policy analysts and think tanks as strategic partners that serve us as both advisors as well as giving us reach and influence among donor supporters, policy makers, partners via their analysts, networks, channels, publications, & events.
Opinion Leaders & Influencers
  • Identify key opinion leaders and influencers with key audiences that intersect our supporter base targets.
  • Develop earned opportunities and partnerships that harness their ability to help us reach our audiences and grow our brand through authentic storytelling and campaigns.
  • Work closely with social and international communications.
Brand Partnerships
  • Identify opportunities in key audience segments among our core audience and in new broader growth audiences to leverage third party brands and institutions to extend our message and create new ways for people to engage with Spirit of America.
Analytics and Best Practices
  • Spot and translate trends among culture and global affairs into actionable opportunities.
  • Track and measure results of programs utilizing data to provide recommendations for optimizations and future initiatives.
Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Work across the organization including marketing, development, and international program teams to coordinate and leverage brand awareness plans, tactics and partner relationships.
Requirements
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with 6-8+ years of relevant professional experience in public relations, marketing and communications, journalism.
  • Experience in a combination of the following communications disciplines: Public Relations, Communications, Analyst Relations, Event and Speaking, Influencer Partnerships and Marketing, Brand Partnerships Marketing
  • Stellar written and verbal communication, and visual storytelling, including the ability to adapt style and voice for different audiences, pitches and outlets.
  • Experience building and managing media outreach (print, online and broadcast), press events and briefings and creating earned campaigns with partners, as well as analyzing their metrics and data
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to derive and act on data-driven insights and optimizations.
  • Able to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours with some travel, as needed
