The Role
Responsible for the capacity planning oversight and project management within the Mass Markets Planning team. The Mass Markets Planning Capacity & Project Management Manager is a full-time position responsible for ensuring that Lumen has appropriate capacity within its North American Lumen network providing Mass Market customer services, lead Mass Markets Planning project management and drive consistency and continuous improvement.

This person must be a strong leader who is able to work cross functionally with executive leaders. Their success in planning and execution will allow Lumen\'s network to grow. Planning\'s mission is to manage network capital and expense spend to drive profitable revenue, positive EBITDA, and free cash flow.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support, and develop diversely skilled and titled direct reports responsible for capacity management, project management and continuous improvement for Mass Markets Planning
  • Manage Mass Market Planning offshore team relationship supporting capacity and optimization.
  • Handle top-down escalations from our CEO, board of directors, senior leadership team and various company executives related to network capacity, availability, and timing.
  • Facilitate and drive transformational change across multiple disciplines and functional organizations.
  • Capability of understanding and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals
  • Effectively communicate and partner with all levels of the organization, including cross-functional
  • Manage within capital and expense budget objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple large complex projects that require cross-organizational coordination to achieve results.
Role Expectations:
  • Manages peer relationships by influencing internal and external stakeholders to achieve departmental objectives, maintaining close working relationships, and facilitating coordination with other functional organization including Technology, Product Management, Network Implementation, Operations, Marketing/Sales and Finance.
  • Drives team to execute plans by organizing, coordinating, and prioritizing resources to achieve optimal results; clearly communicating goals and reasons to shift direction to gain staff commitment; demonstrating flexibility and willingness to embrace change; ensuring that teams are working together efficiently and understand expected results; encouraging and fostering an environment of creativity and continuous process improvement.
  • Establishes strategic plans and objectives by partnering with other leaders; selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel and directing the activities of broad functional areas; contributing to improved customer quality and overall network strategic growth; performing analysis and comparisons of technical information; definition of strategic network objectives; ensuring the design of the network is in a fashion consistent with network architecture and standards, product strategy and delivery objectives.
  • Ensures budgets and schedules meet requirements by determining the impact of the overall success of functional, division, or company operations; managing within approved budgets; optimizing expenditures; interacting with executives and customers; and negotiating and influencing on significant matters to the organization; supporting the development of the annual capital plan; ensuring best practices are communicated and adhered to; planning of initiatives addressing work distribution, project scheduling, critical path analysis and resource assignments in a fashion consistent with budget constraints, priorities and roadmap commitments.
  • Drives revenue generation programs by demonstrating a customer focused approach which will be the basis for decision making and departmental action, driving the growth in the network through traditional strategies as well as new emerging opportunities.
  • Engaging employees by disseminating relevant and timely information to ensure departmental and individual success; maintaining a clear and enthusiastic leadership style that drives commitment in others to achieve the goals of the department and support the core values of the company; fostering a work environment where employees are supported, treated fairly, and given the tools, resources, training, and performance feedback necessary to perform their duties in a timely and quality manner.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor\'s degree in engineering or related field with 7+ years related experience or 5+ years related experience with master\'s degree.
  • 4-6 years inside & outside plant experience in telecommunications with in-depth knowledge of ISP/OSP equipment and designs or the equivalent in training and experience.
Preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of network topologies spanning the access, transport, and data portions of the network, including working knowledge of the features, functions and applications.
  • Working knowledge of and the ability to perform economic analysis including internal rate of return analysis, discounted payback period, net present value, profit index, buy-vs.-lease analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and breakeven analysis.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
