DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Division is responsible in providing internal financial support services for the administration and operations of Cambridge Health Alliance.

Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading staff accountants in the production of monthly financial statements, analyses, and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the Tax Accounting, Salary and Benefits Accounting, Revenue Systems, and Financial Statement and External Reporting
  • Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the Tax area. Responsible for the timely and accurate filing of IRS form 990 and MA form PC for the 6 CHA entities: Somerville Hospital, Everett Hospital, CHAPO, CHA Management Services, ICH, and CHA Foundation. Manager is expected to have current knowledge of any changes in tax reporting requirements, and is responsible for working with Accounting staff, and PWC to ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements
  • Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the Accounting and recording of all revenue systems and interfaces including Hospital Accounts Receivable, Pharmacy Receivables, and Dental Receivables. Manager is responsible for working with various departments to communicate reconciling items, and to work together to resolve any variances and to improve the overall processes to limit future variances
  • Also, oversees all fringe benefit accounting and reconciliations. Manager works with Accounting staff to reconcile all benefit accounts. Together, the manager and staff are responsible for working with the appropriate HR and/or PR groups to improve processes and reduce reconciling items
  • Accounting Manager is also responsible for overseeing the filing of other external reports including capital reporting censuses, income reporting censuses, and staff and payroll reporting censuses
  • The Accounting Manager is involved in the financial statement process from start to finish, and for preparing various schedules included in the monthly report to the finance committee. Responsible for researching Accounting guidance, and reviewing appropriateness of transactions as needed. This includes reviewing and approving journal entries, and preparation of monthly reconciliations for accounts. This position is a key point of contact for our independent auditors (PWC), and is responsible for working with staff to provide and explain as necessary any information requested by the auditors.
  • Accounting manager is expected to periodically review processes within the area of responsibility, and to work with the appropriate individuals to implement process improvements
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Minimum requirement Bachelor\'s Degree in Accounting; Master\'s Degree and CPA preferred.
Work Experience: At least 6 years general accounting experience. Management experience required.
Skills: Analytical thinker with ability to evaluate and improve processes
