Life Underwriting Sr. Analyst

Duration: 6+ months (Potential for perm conversion)

Notes
This team has an email service that they provide to advisors, and they receive ~150 emails/day. Until this process is automated, they need an individual that can handle the incoming emails. Experience with underwriting is mandatory for this role in order to produce quotes and respond to these emails. The expected output is responding to 10-15 of these emails/hour. Per the manager there will be no client contact, this is not actually working cases, just responding to these emails. This role is perfect for someone that wants a heads-down, get the work out type of role. This individual must be able to work well autonomously.
This team has a 24 hour response time to these emails, and as long as this worker is responding within that timeframe but core business hours (8 AM to 4:45 PM Central time) are required during the training period.

Summary
The worker will be responsible for the risk assessment of submitted quick quote requests from advisors. They will provide a risk assessment quote based upon the information provided in the quote request that can include medical history, financial situation and history, occupational situation, aviation and avocation risk, habits and lifestyle risks and fraud risk.

Responsibilities include but not limited to
Evaluates and selects life insurance risks to contribute to favorable mortality results.
Operates relatively independently in approving risks, influencing the mortality experience of the company.
Partners with more experienced underwriters in making recommendations for medically impaired clients
Coordinates and communicates with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
Knowledge of life products and their provisions in the Individual and Group markets. Exposure with other life products/riders including joint life, multi-life, disability, and chronic illness.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to respond to customers about underwriting decisions or other questions about their underwriting experience.
Communication skills to build professional relationships with Home Office associates and clients.
Analytical and decision-making skills to assist in achieving expected mortality results while meeting productivity, service, and expense results.
Understanding of medical terms, diagnoses, co-conditions, and anatomy to effectively interpret and assess medical information provided. Understanding of the non-medical factors impacting insurance selection, including lifestyle behaviors, avocation, and financial.
