Supervises and participates in carpentry work involving the construction, alteration and repair of wooden articles and structures; and performs other related duties as required.

Current Vacancy:
There is one vacancy with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division. Position is located at the Manana Warehouse. Work hours are Mondays - Fridays, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Under the supervision of the Carpentry & Cabinet Making Supervisor II, this position supervises a crew of carpenters and performs skilled carpentry tasks involved in the construction, maintenance and repair of departmental buildings, facilities, and equipment and apparatus.

Special Work Requirements: Work and climb heights greater than 30-feet; heavy lifting up to 100-lbs.; may be required to work over time after hours, weekends and holidays. Will serve as Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show demonstrated competence in performing the journeyman level duties of a carpenter.

Such experience and/or training must demonstrate knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used in the carpentry trade; qualities, uses, and adaptability of various woods; pertinent building codes; and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. And the ability to apply the techniques appropriate to carpentry work; demonstrate proper work methods and set the pace; operate a variety of woodworking machines; use hand and power tools of the trade; interpret, and work from plans, blueprints, sketches, and working drawings; estimate labor and material requirements; rig and work from scaffolds and other high or difficult vantage points; encourage safety practices and enforce safety rules; give and follow oral and written instructions; plan and supervise the work of others; maintain harmony in work relationships among workers; and handle weights and loads.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver\'s license (Type 3/automobile), as required. The current vacancy has this requirement.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:
