Responsibilities

Salary Range: $67,000.00 to $94,500.00 in NY

Supports affiliate Operating Company critical infrastructure/major projects as the purchasing and commercial lead. Mentors colleagues in Purchasing and lends experience and knowledge to assist others in the department and the business. Administers the competitive bidding process for electrical/gas developments which contribute to projects valued at up to several hundred million dollars. Selects suppliers and manages corresponding partnerships for all Avangrid operating companies. Drive cost reduction initiatives, customer service levels, generate reports and other initiatives across the enterprise. Perform other duties assigned by management.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
1. Strategically sources commodities and services on critical infrastructure/major projects using a variety of traditional and leading-edge methods. Assures an uninterrupted supply of goods and services across all Avangrid affiliates. Administers the competitive bidding process, evaluates and selects suppliers based on the Procurement Services Policy and annual budgetary requirements.
2. Leads cross-functional affiliate teams to drive purchasing initiatives and improve bottom line performance. This includes participation in Global teams, RFP\'s and initiatives with other
Iberdrola businesses as necessary. Centralizes the procurement function for all affiliates and solicits assistance from subject matter experts, and others within the business, as required.
3. Maintains current and accurate understanding of a broad base of commodities, service categories and general business conditions. Tracks material/service costs, and performance using approved. Metrics and tools. Analyzes trends and makes corresponding sourcing decisions that contribute directly to the company\'s competitive position. Supports DBE programs and initiatives.
5. Negotiates and awards multi-faceted, complex, business wide and affiliate specific enterprise contracts to minimize operational, legal and financial risks. Formulates requests for
proposal/quotations/information, bid analysis, tenders, and risk evaluations. Directs supplier negotiations and administers agreements. Collaborates with both internal and external legal counsel.
6. Drives creative solutions and communicate/suggest best practices to management and colleagues.
7. The successful candidate will be part of a team which is responsible for providing procurement support to our businesses in the USA. You\'ll contribute to building and maintaining our Renewables, Networks and corporate needs.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors Degree or Master\'s degree (in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or Business Administration) with a minimum of 6 years\' experience in purchasing.
Certifications:
CPSM, or equivalent or working toward achievement is desired.
Background & Skills:

  • Clear commercial focus (i.e., have a good understanding of contract mechanisms and contract negotiation).
  • Sourcing knowledge and able to work under tight deadlines on multiple projects. Experience in Ariba and SAP a plus.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation related communication skills.
  • Strong Customer Service Orientation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Have a hands-on mindset and used to working in a changing environment with a wide range of stakeholders with different industry backgrounds
  • Able to self-task and work through others.
  • Able to work in a fast pace and challenging environment.
Experience in Project Management, Project Engineering, or Business Development welcomed.
