Description

Our Directed Energy team in Albuquerque is looking for a High Energy Laser Vulnerability Mechanical Engineer/Program Manager to lead research and development of game changing, next-generation technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to direct high energy laser vulnerability assessments and methodology development. You will get to manage a multi-disciplinary team, in collaboration with Government researchers doing interesting analysis primarily in an office environment.

  • Plan and direct technical direction of vulnerability assessments in coordination with government customer
  • Maintain project schedules and monitor progress of milestones
  • Regularly update the government customer on technical, financial, and schedule status
  • Generate weekly and monthly status report updates to the government customer, and quarterly status updates to Leidos
  • Mentor current and new team members
  • Mediate disagreements between personnel
  • Coordinate with other prime contractors to generate synergistic plans and schedules to the government customer
  • Effectively manage manpower to ensure work is completed according to project schedules and cost.
  • Participate in capture activities, such as writing proposal technical volumes and review of estimates
  • The ideal candidate will work independently as well as with a team, learn new skills quickly, demonstrate excellent communication and problem solving skills, be organized, detail-oriented, careful, flexible, and self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Master\'s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering or equivalent related field with 5+ years of prior relevant experience or a Bachelor\'s and 8+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • DoD Secret security clearance
  • Experience with the following: thermal and fluid analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, documenting analysis results and generating reports.
  • Good computer skills using MS Windows are required, with proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have strong fluid and thermal mechanics skills, and also possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to effectively work on multiple projects at the same time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior engineering project/program management experience
  • Experience with laser effects modeling or testing
  • Experience with finite difference/finite element thermal analysis code
  • Familiarity with DoD organizations such as the Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness (JTCG/ME) and Joint Directed Energy Transition Office (J-DETO)
  • DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
About Our Team

Our Directed Energy team in Albuquerque consists of approximately 100 scientists, engineers, technicians, drafters, fabricators and support staff with backgrounds in advanced physics, electrical and mechanical engineering, electromagnetics, lasers, and high-power microwaves. For over three decades our team has worked with government laboratories to push the limits of the state-of-the-art in several high-tech fields and continue to do so on several programs.

Pay Range: Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00
