Overview

The Housing Authority of Salt Lake City (HASLC), is a federally funded Special Purpose Government Agency, created to provide rent subsidies, and promote affordable housing for low-income persons residing in Salt Lake City. HASLC is the largest public housing authority in the state of Utah and the largest provider of Affordable Housing in the Salt Lake Valley. We currently assist over 10,000 individuals, who are seniors, persons with disabilities, children, previously homeless, and households with minimal income, a place to call home.

General Purpose as a Landlord Outreach Specialist

The Landlord Outreach Specialist locates housing units in the rental market throughout Salt Lake County, develop partnerships with landlords to overcome barriers that prevent households from obtaining housing. The Landlord Outreach Specialist works closely with Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program participants, landlords, non-profit agencies, and case managers to ensure that clients have access to housing.

Essential Functions of Landlord Outreach Specialist
  • Develop productive working relationships with landlords and property managers.
  • Work within the goals of the agency in assisting voucher program customers in attaining housing.
  • Expanding our network of landlords and property managers for our customers.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date list of available rental units and a landlord database.
  • Organizing and participating at landlord events in the community, as well as coordinating with partnering agencies, outside organizations, and service providers.
  • Conducting housing search assessments to identify a client\'s housing barriers and individual needs.
  • Maintaining all documents and deadlines in accordance with program.
Desired Skills & Experience of Landlord Outreach Specialist
  • Bachelor\'s degree or at least three years of real estate, case management, or similar; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be comfortable working with landlords and property managers, making cold calls, advocating for clients, and negotiating with landlords.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management skills, and motivation to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate with persons from all socio-economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds.
  • Ability to interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations. Follow instructions and make decisions in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver\'s license.
