We are hiring all new staff at step L for this recruitment which is $5,900 per month. Posted salary does not include an additional 5% premium pay for employees working in King County or an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium.

The schedule for this opportunity is a 4-day 10-hour/day work week.

We\'re looking for incredible adults to join our team as Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential Counselors at Echo Glen Children\'s Center in Snoqualmie, WA. Snoqualmie is an easy 45-minute commute from Tacoma and approximately 30 minutes from Bellevue. Even better than a reasonable commute? The Opportunity:
You can make a real difference in the lives of at-risk youth when you join our dedicated team at . We need your motivation and engagement to provide comprehensive case management, transition planning, counseling, and treatment referral services for an assigned caseload of youth committed to Rehabilitation Administration care by the juvenile courts and their families. Our objective is to maintain a secure, therapeutic environment that provides youth with the information, skills, and motivation to succeed outside the Institution and remain free from future incarceration.

As a Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential Counselor (JRC2) at Echo Glen, you will do the majority of your counseling in the moment and in the living milieu. Although you will have time individually with youth on your caseload, that will not be the bulk of your shift. Your shift will consist of; milieu management, coaching emotionally dysregulated youth, and, at times, physically intervening when a youth becomes aggressive or presents a threat to the order and safety of the living environment.

Some of what you will get to do:

  • Provide mental health treatment and supervision interventions to youth committed to Rehabilitation Administration care by the juvenile courts and who have a complex range of disorders and service needs.
  • Interview and administer/interpret screening tools and assessments, assess behavior, prioritize treatment targets, develop treatment plans, and implement Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other therapeutic treatment interventions.
  • Facilitate various groups and activities and prepare youth and their families for transition back to the community.
  • Perform routine security duties.
  • Supervise and/or serve meals to resident groups.
  • Monitor the movement of residents within the facility and in the community.
  • Supervise and assign chores within a living unit to meet health and hygiene standards.
What we are looking for:
One year as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor Assistant.
OR
A Bachelor\'s degree AND one year of professional experience in casework, counseling, probation and parole, social services, planning, directing, and/or facilitating youth group activities or experience in a related field.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, or relevant experience totaling five years.

A valid driver\'s license is required for this position.

Degree must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent verified by a NACES-approved organization at naces.org.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
  • Demonstrated understanding of positive youth development and evidence-based, effective juvenile rehabilitation practices and principles
  • Experience providing cognitive/behavioral therapeutic interventions
  • Demonstrated competency in relating to clients from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends, and influences related to juvenile delinquency
  • Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively in a professional/objective manner
