We acquire segment-leading brands with strong intellectual property assets and reposition them for growth in both direct-to-consumer and retail channels. At Ascendant, all roads lead to our brand managers. They contribute to selecting a brand for acquisition and performing diligence. They lead the planning and integration work that follows, then execute the repositioning of the brand across current and new sales channels. They are the arbiter of the brand\xe2\x80\x99s identity and inventor of its new products. An Ascendant brand manager is the consummate cross-functional leader \xe2\x80\x93 adept at making decisions, communicating direction, rallying teams and persistently delivering results. We\xe2\x80\x99re currently seeking both a director-rank and a manager-rank brand manager. For the former, we anticipate the contributor bringing the capabilities described in the posting. For the latter, we anticipate the contributor possessing the attitudes to develop those capabilities. What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:
  • Experience in shaping a brand\xe2\x80\x99s (visual identity and messaging, storytelling) as well as implementing or applying brand strategy in product and marketing communications.
  • Demonstrated Capability to develop a vision for a product line, including where it could be extended with new products and where it should be trimmed to improve results.
  • Aptitude of a general manager in setting priorities for and collaborating with several business functions including (e.g. supply chain management , marketing and sales).
  • Flexible thinker who can bring both a creative and analytical perspective to learning from current and prospective customers as well as problem-solving.
  • Effective collaborator, but also the ability to make progress autonomously.
  • Determination to surmount challenges and make progress every day toward fulfilling what may be an aggressive growth plan.
What we expect:
  • Early to mid-career contributor, though any experience level will be considered.
  • Some relevant experience in brand / product management or a related discipline; direct experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a relevant discipline or the equivalent combination of education and additional experience.
  • Willingness to travel 3-4 times per year.
