Company Overview:

As a Junior Accountant on the $3.3BN Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project (HRBT) in Virginia, you will assist the Project Controller with various duties such as the responsibility for assisting the accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization/project office.

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of VINCI Construction, Dragados, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project \xe2\x80\x93the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45 diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2025.

Principle Accountability and Responsibility:

  • Prepare accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Report to the Controller the finances of the organization.
  • Establish records of accounts and input entries into to proper accounts.
  • Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies. Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.
  • Perform additional assignments per management s direction.
Education and Experience:

Required:
  • A Bachelor s degree in accounting, or a Bachelor s degree in business with emphasis in accounting from an accredited institution
Strongly Encouraged:
  • Construction accounting experince
  • Previous experience in the US
Key Skills and Knowledge:

Required:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Fluent in English with professional proficiency
  • Good knowledge of accounting rules, regulations and procedures
Strongly Encouraged:
  • Ability to manage a number of different tasks and projects in an organized and efficient manner
  • Prepare documentation for contracts, transactions, or regulatory compliance
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
