Job Description


Class Summary

As an IT Systems Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the following areas:

  • Daily tickets for support and maintenance of all public safety applications
  • Day-to-day operations for applications and field support
  • Review the team\'s daily time activity reporting/workload forecasting
  • Support and manage critical public safety CAD/RMS environments for public safety
Other essential duties:
  • Supervising and evaluating employees
  • Prioritizing and assigning work
  • Applying laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Managing projects
  • Database concepts and experience implementing them in a production environment
  • experience interfacing front-end programs with back-end database
  • server setup and maintenance knowledge: Active Directory, Exchange, Group Policy Objects, and backup and recovery strategies
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including network protocols, protocol layers, and topologies
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to clearly explain technical information to a non-technical audience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible, related systems administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Skilled in reporting and data visualization, Microsoft Power Apps is a plus
  • Experienced in the development and maintenance of reporting dashboards, preferably Power BI or ESRI
  • Two-year minimum using SQL Management Studio. SSRS or SSIS is a plus.
  • Candidates are required to obtain one or more of the following certifications: GCIC Security and Integrity certification; GCIC Inquiry level workbook certification within six months of hire.
  • Requires 24/7 on-call support (Team weekly rotation)
  • Must be able to work independently with customers, gather requirements and provide analytical or software solutions to a variety of management levels and organizational departments.
  • Valid Driver\'s License PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Python for data science and analytical applications
  • Two years of experience developing and implementing test plans, supporting software applications, and providing end-user support.
  • Experience in a large government environment where management of life-critical systems exists.
The grade for this position is 107. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

After a 60-day assessment period, new hires may be eligible to telework on a limited rotation.

This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories and fingerprinting.

This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after-hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to competently perform the essential duties of the position will also be considered for all levels.

The Department of Information Technology Services consists of six Divisions: Emerging Technologies/Digital Transformation, Enterprise Applications/Development, Infrastructure/Operations, Information Security, Financial/Admin and Business Strategic Services. Gwinnett County ITS is responsible for all information technology systems. The Infrastructure & Operations Support Division, consisting of End User Support, Systems & Storage / Server, Service Delivery, and Network / Telecommunications, collectively provides services in the areas of Desktop Support, Data Center Operations, Server Administration, and Network and Telecommunications Support. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County\'s values.

In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
