The Information Technology Division of the State Court Administrator\xe2\x80\x99s Office is pleased to announce an opening for a Service Desk Specialist. This technical and customer service position is responsible for daily calls and tickets for software, hardware and application support, training questions and general information regarding applications and hardware as it relates to our business.

Example of Duties
The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform.

  • Answer incoming calls for technical support on applications and hardware.
  • Enter and update ServiceNow Incidents & Requests according to guidelines.
  • Provide status updates and information through ServiceNow software or other communication tools.
  • Resolve tickets using personal knowledge or information in a knowledge base.
  • Monitor tickets for Major Incident criteria and propose Major Incidents according to the escalation process.

Typical Qualifications
Below are the past experiences that will enable success in the role. For education requirements listed, the equivalent number of years of related experience may serve as a substitute.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Some college level course work in computer science or a related technical area, or
  • Two to three years of relevant IT experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four-year degree or technical certifications in Information Technology field.
  • ITIL certification or experience.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Application.
  • Experience with Court Applications, such as Odyssey and MACS.
  • Experience with supporting a remote workforce.
  • Basic knowledge of court practices, procedures, and terminology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and customer interface/relationship skills.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of tickets while adhering to quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to use a knowledge base and critical thinking to work through issues and resolve incidents.
  • Ability to communicate with and assist individuals with varying levels of computer expertise.

Salary
The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $21.65- $27.09 per hour ($45,205- $56,564 annually). The full salary range for this position is $21.65- $32.52 per hour ($45,205- $67,902 annually). This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.

Supplemental Information
Position Logistics
  • This full-time, permanent position is classified as an Information Technology Specialist I.
  • Work will be performed during predominantly normal business hours, Monday-Friday.
  • Standard service desk hours are 7:00 AM \xe2\x80\x93 6:00 PM and team members rotate work schedules to ensure coverage.
  • Work will be performed in a hybrid environment with visits to the office in downtown St. Paul, MN a minimum of two times per month. This may change as business needs dictate. In addition, after-hours and weekend support will be required as part of a weekly on-call rotation three times per year.
