ABOUT GATEWAY

The shelter offers a safe and welcoming environment to men and women experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque. The center is open year-round, offering meals, a warm bed, and secure under-bed storage. Shuttle service is provided daily. The shelter provides overnight beds, easy access to services needed for case management, job searching, and other supportive services. Success is an exit to safe, stable housing, and a plan for ongoing support.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?

You will play a critical leadership role in ensuring an efficient and effective intake process, facilitating a smooth transition for guests into the shelter, and supporting their pathway toward stable housing. As the leader in your area, you will support, train, and coach the intake team as they connect guests with necessary resources and services, coordinating with external agencies as needed. A big part of your role will be managing the use of the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for data entry and reporting, maintaining compliance with shelter policies, ensuring accurate record-keeping of all interactions and service provisions, and overseeing completion of assessments such as VI-SPDAT. Ultimately, you and your team will coordinate with external agencies to maintain a safe and supportive environment for guests and their pets!

Lead and Empower Your Team:

Supervise and mentor intake staff, ensuring they're trained to conduct guest assessments like VI-SPDAT and maintain accurate records in HMIS and other systems. Equip your team to handle crisis, navigate resources, and work through stressful periods together.

Connect Guests to Vital Resources:

Play a key role in linking guests to housing, healthcare, mental health support, employment opportunities, and coordinate pet care agreements with external agencies.

Champion Safety and Compliance:

Uphold shelter policies, foster a trauma-informed environment, and step in during crises with effective de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques.

Drive Operational Excellence:

Monitor shelter operations, assist with meal distribution and transportation scheduling, and continuously improve intake processes for efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Manage Data and Reporting:

Ensure timely and accurate data entry in HMIS, Citywide Emergency Bed Tracker daily, track census and occupancy reports, and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders to keep operations running smoothly.

Stay Flexible and Community-Focused:

Work a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and on-call availability for emergencies, with occasional driving for community-based coordination and resource engagement.
