Job Summary

Interview credit union loan applicants, professionally representing the credit union throughout the process. Provide information on credit union products and services to members in accordance with credit union policies and procedures and state and federal rules and regulations. Process loan applications and perform a variety of support duties related to the lending function within the credit union. Gather background information and analyze loan applicants\' credit history. Approve, counter, or deny loan applications based on analysis. Operate under substantial credit authority.

Essential Functions

  • Document and calculate applicant\'s income
  • Order title and appraisal work
  • Generate pre-approvals according to credit union policy
  • Accurately calculate closing costs and required down payments
  • Quote and set up MI for required accounts
  • Verify all documentation is saved in the e-file before closing
  • Communicate with the title company in a professional manner
  • Fund applications in the system according to the closing disclosure
  • Strong communication with team members as to the progress of current applications
  • HMDA monthly review and annual filing
  • File necessary papers with the state land title for second mortgages.
  • Responsible for selling files on the secondary market
  • Approve or deny real estate loan applications, and consumer applications and explain reasons for denial.
  • Ensure that each real estate loan is processed accurately.
  • Responsible for the approval of all residential mortgage loans in accordance with established goals and standards for the department.
  • Responsible for the compliance of all residential real estate loans to NCUA rules and regulations, secondary market standards, and federal real estate lending laws.
  • Responsible for the sale of residential mortgage loans on the secondary market.
  • Responsible for the underwriting and approval of all second mortgage loans issued by the credit union.
  • Other duties as assigned by Loan Manager or Executive Management.

\xc2\xb7 Valid NMLS

\xc2\xb7 Previous experience as a Consumer Loan Processor/Underwriter preferred

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/scanners, filing cabinets, 10-key calculators, and fax machines. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files, and open filing cabinets. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as necessary.

The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
