The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, liquor laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Information Management and Collections Division serves Montana citizens and businesses through processing tax returns, refunds, and payments timely and accurately, integrating improved technology to enhance the user experience, increasing electronic filing, resolving overdue debt, and collection other state debt.

DUTIES

Job Overview:

This position resides in the of . The Information Management Bureau ensures secure handling and processing of taxpayer information, payments, and data. The bureau is organized into three units including Customer & Payment Management, Digitization, and Information Governance. The Information Governance Unit is responsible for managing two enterprise level programs consisting of Electronic Services and Data & Records Management. The position reports to the Information Management Bureau Chief, and directly supervises assigned staff.

You will be responsible for and perform a variety of duties related to operational planning and oversight such as:
  • Oversee department processes related to electronic filing, data and records
  • Create and enforce procedures, policies and best practices for effective data handling, transmission, and management of that information
  • Assess impacts of changes to technology, state and federal requirements, industry standards and department needs
  • Coordinate and communicate program requirements and functions with a variety of external and internal stakeholders like, software vendors and developers, state and federal agencies, national committees, industry partners, the public and department employees
  • Conduct strategic planning for short and long-range plans
In this role, you will supervise and manage five or more business analyst and program officers. Leadership and management duties include:
  • Hire, train, motivate, direct and evaluate staff
  • Maintain a quality and safe work environment
  • Ensure staff adhere to rules, polices, procedures and have the proper tools to do so

REMOTE/TELEWORK: This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisor\'s approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program.

Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The minimum level needed on the first day of work is
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in public administration, business administration, computer science, or closely related field; and/or
  • Three years of job-related work experience.
  • Preferred work experience includes program planning, analysis, customer relationship management, system operations, and work in tax and project management.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
