Job Description


Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, SMMA is seeking a passionate Human Resources professional to join our growing firm. We are looking for an HR Generalist to complement our existing team supporting offices in Cambridge, MA and Providence, RI. This role will be the point of contact for all aspects of the employee experience. This includes but is not limited to internal HR programs and initiatives related to culture, recruiting, training and professional development, and data management for a newly implemented HRIS.

SMMA is a 200-person design firm which ranks among the top Massachusetts Architecture and Interior Design firms and is an Engineering News-Record top 500 company. Our practice is organized into areas of market focus including Education, Corporate, Life Sciences and Federal Government.

What you will do:

  • Proactively and positively provide support to managers and employees in all aspects of human resources.
  • Provide HR policy guidance bringing your experience and knowledge of current best practices to the firm.
  • Manage the lifecycle of employee recruitment and retention of top talent.
  • Manage our social media and digital presence as it relates to talent acquisition and recruiting.
  • Provide support for internal HR initiatives to continue to elevate SMMA\xe2\x80\x99s culture of curiosity, collaboration and learning.
  • Be an active participant on employee committees and programs.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll need:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Human Resources or Recruiting roles. Experience in professional services or related fields is preferred.
  • Ability to travel to our Providence office a plus!
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and can balance multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Tech savvy-MSOffice and HRIS experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
