Description



The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Loan Specialist III for the Veterans Land Board.



The Loan Specialist III performs highly complex (senior-level) loan specialist work for Veterans Land and Housing.

Work involves setting up, processing, servicing, and monitoring loans with a 92 to 96% accuracy and/or completion rate. Performs other duties as assigned that may include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be:



Conducts reviews and audits of loan closing packages and materials to determine compliance with requirements, contracts, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Completes 92% to 96 % of assigned new home improvement file reviews within three days of receipt from the Jr. loan processor to comply with RESPA. Complies with RESPA (real estate settlement procedures act). Provides customer service to agency clients and provides excellent customer service. Monitors, and funds new loans; and oversees the completion of loan closing procedures and requirements for home improvement loans. Provides regular account monitoring of the home improvement account files for loans in process to ensure a completion rate to 92% to 96% of assigned home improvement loans to the closing stage within 45 days by monitoring files regularly. Performs underwriting to determine the economic feasibility of loans using local, state, and federal guidelines (HUD Title I Guidelines). Complete 92% - 96% of the commitment review of accounts. Monitors required closing conditions to ensure all specifications have been met prior to closing. Monitors receipt of loan documentation and borrowers' compliance with HUD Title I lending guidelines. Maintain a 92% - 96% accuracy rate on all commitment review files. Tracks documents and verifies documentation have been submitted. Required to track loan documentation and review within 3 business days of receipt.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:



Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in finance, business administration, real estate, or a related field is generally preferred. Five years of mortgage loan origination, real estate and/or title company experience. Education and experience may be substituted for one another.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience in working with Texas Veterans Loan Programs. Knowledge or experience in working with FHA Title I Property Improvement Loan Program. Three to five years of experience in finance, banking or real estate work.

Physical Requirements:




This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
