Front Desk Receptionist A Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for accurately checking in and checking out patients in the clinc. Their main duties include inputting patient paperwork, verifying insurance information, collecting payment, and scheduling appointments. Other duties include serving as back-up for answering phones. Duties and Responsibilities A Front Desk Receptionist serves as the coordinator for ensuring accurate information is entered for all patients visiting the clinic. They must listen to the needs of the patient and accurately enter that information into the computer system for the medical provider. They should be professional and have the ability to manage patients / calls. Examples of tasks a Scheduler may need to perform include:
Determine what paperwork needs to be completed for each upcoming appointment.
Accurately enter new and updated patient information into the computer system.
Ensure all patient paperwork is processed in a timely fashion.
Serve as back-up for answering and routing phone calls and scheduling appointments.
Collect accurate payments from patients.
All other duties assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Requires a thorough understanding of medical terminology.
Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential.
Must demonstrate ability to use EMR scheduling software
Education and training requirements
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years experience scheduling in a medical office environment.
