Overview:

The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for carrying out the financial accounting activities of the company as developed by the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), Controller and Regional Financial Accounting Directors. Responsibilities include assisting with the execution of policies and procedures required to maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as assisting with the preparation of financial statements with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of reporting. The Financial Accounting Manager reports directly to a Regional Financial Accounting Director (RFAD) and assists with managing local financial accounting support staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of Income Statements and Balance Sheets for multiple properties. In doing so, the Financial Accounting Manager will ensure that the internal control processes, policies, and procedures are strictly adhered to by all associates.
  • Maintain compliance with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain a strong culture of technical competence, personal accountability, and ethical behavior in all aspects of accounting work.
  • Maintain and apply appropriate accounting internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Address internal audit requests for information as needed.
  • Maintain timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data.
  • Review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting entries as prepared by Staff Accountants to ensure timely period closing schedules are being maintained.
  • Work with park operational staff to prepare monthly financial forecasts and assist in park build of the annual operating plan.
  • Assist with weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and recommend improvements and efficiencies when possible.
  • Oversee general ledger account reconciliations process.
  • Act as a liaison with Park operational associates.
  • Collaborate with team, shared accounting services and Corporate Director, Accounting Staffing Allocation and Development to meet cyclical and periodic staffing needs, such as making sure transactions have been completed and posted during daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual closes.

  • Assist in developing the park financial accounting staff teams, provide ongoing training and maintain strong associate relationships.
  • Lead hiring process of Staff Accountants when needed.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Cedar Fair policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and will demonstrate commitment to Cedar Fair core values and cornerstones.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum seven years of experience consisting of public accounting or combined public accounting and industry, or progressive industry experience.
  • Multilocation and/or multi-departmental experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant designation a plus.
  • Previous experience with Oracle based products, including JD Edwards and/or Essbase a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
