We are seeking a skilled Fiber Field Technician to join our team in providing comprehensive telecommunication infrastructure services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic networks and related equipment in various field environments. This role requires technical expertise in fiber splicing, network installation, and low voltage systems, along with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge. The Fiber Field Technician will ensure high-quality service delivery by utilizing a range of tools and technical skills to support our clients' telecommunication needs.
Duties
Perform fiber splicing and termination to establish reliable high-speed data connections.
Install and troubleshoot network equipment including Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, and telephony systems.
Conduct cable routing, cabling, and termination for telecommunication infrastructure projects.
Use hand tools and mechanical knowledge to assemble, repair, or modify telecommunication hardware.
Conduct field service activities such as testing, diagnosing issues with ohmmeters, and verifying signal integrity.
Install low voltage wiring and ensure compliance with safety standards for electrical and telecommunication systems.
Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including test results and network configurations.
Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues related to Ethernet, telephony, or other data services.
Adhere to safety protocols during all installation and maintenance activities in the field.
Support team efforts in project planning, site assessment, and client communication.
Skills
Proven experience with fiber splicing and network installation techniques.
Familiarity with Cisco routers, Ethernet networking, telecommunication systems, and cabling standards.
Strong understanding of computer networking concepts and low voltage electrical systems.
Experience working as a service technician in telecommunications or related fields.
Ability to operate hand tools effectively and perform mechanical tasks related to cabling and hardware installation.
Mechanical knowledge applicable to field service environments involving electrical components.
Proficiency with testing equipment such as ohmmeters for troubleshooting signal issues.
Knowledge of telephony systems and Ethernet protocols is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues efficiently.
