Job Summary


We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fiber Technician to join our expanding telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic networks to ensure seamless high-speed connectivity for residential and commercial clients. Your expertise will help deliver reliable internet, telephony, and network services by performing precise fiber splicing, cable management, and network setup. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the field, utilizing your technical skills to build and troubleshoot complex telecommunication infrastructure while providing exceptional service to our customers.

Responsibilities



Perform fiber optic splicing with precision using specialized tools to ensure optimal signal transmission. Install and configure network equipment including Cisco routers, switches, and other telecommunication hardware. Conduct cable routing, termination, and testing of Ethernet, low voltage wiring, and telephony systems across various sites. Utilize hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, and ohmmeters to complete cabling tasks and electrical measurements accurately. Troubleshoot network issues related to fiber optics, Ethernet connections, and telecommunication systems in the field. Conduct routine maintenance checks on fiber infrastructure and perform repairs or replacements as needed. Document all installation activities, test results, and maintenance procedures thoroughly for record-keeping and quality assurance. Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure projects are completed efficiently while adhering to safety standards. Apply mechanical knowledge for equipment setup and troubleshooting in diverse environments. Follow all safety protocols related to low voltage electrical work and telecommunications standards.

Requirements



Proven experience as a service technician or field technician within the telecommunication or networking industry. Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and fiber optic network installation processes. Familiarity with Cisco routers, Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and general computer networking concepts. Hands-on experience with cabling methods including mechanical termination and testing of low voltage wiring. Ability to operate hand tools effectively such as crimpers, wire strippers, ohmmeters, and other electrical/mechanical tools. Mechanical aptitude combined with electrical experience to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently. Knowledge of telecommunication standards, Ethernet protocols, and low voltage wiring practices. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail during installation or repair tasks. Valid field service certification or relevant technical training is preferred. Strong communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members on-site. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
