Job Description

Develop Your Regenerative Farming, Education, & Agritourism Dream Job Executive Director About Our Nonprofit Farm
Hungry World Farm is a nonprofit 175 acre farm that inspires and educates people on the benefits of regenerative agriculture. Our farm is located in Central Illinois about 2 hours west of Chicago along the I80 and the Amtrak line. The beautiful topography includes bluffs, valley, Plow Creek, 75 acres of forest, and over 50 acres of pasture/crops, barns, outbuildings, and a produce packing and storage center. Uniquely, for many years our farm was an Intentional Community and has 10+ Airbnb rentals, an education center, commercial kitchen, woodfired pizza oven, with additional building, RV and camping sites planned. Our market garden and livestock operations provide delicious and nutrient dense food to thousands of people every year. The possibilities for our regenerative farming, education and agritourism enterprises are endless! See more details and photos at www.HungryWorldFarm.com and Facebook/Instagram @hungryworldfarm Our Enterprises Our organization has gone through many changes since the Covid pandemic and we are pivoting to a dynamic entrepreneurial business model focused on agritourism and educational activities that are deeply rooted in regenerative farming and soil health. Our operations in the next several years will likely include:

  • Market Garden supporting food banks, CSA, and Farmers Market
  • Livestock including pastured poultry and forest fowl, sheep, cattle, and \xe2\x80\x98petting zoo\xe2\x80\x99
  • Foraging, mushrooms, composting
  • Silvopasture and Agroforestry projects
  • Airbnb rentals and camping sites
  • On-farm & online educational tours, workshops and volunteer experiences
Our 3 to 10+ year plans will likely use the Holistic Management framework to help establish our nonprofit farm as a top 5 midwestern agritourism destination. The Executive Director Position As we pivot from a traditional small nonprofit model, to an ambitious, social enterprise vision, we are looking for executive leadership with strong capabilities in two areas: Business Development: including financial management, business development, online marketing and sales experience to ensure enterprise profitability. Resource Development: Building a large Board, volunteer, donor, and grant funder base to capitalize our startup operations and support the parts of the organization that have less income potential. Ideal Applicant The ideal person for this role is a person with skills in these key areas who is able to focus their work on activities that either (a) immediately create the most financial value, or (b) build longer term relationships and systems that can bring in and leverage resources. The ideal candidate will also need to be flexible in their interests, energy and time, as the role might require shifting in the same day from, for example, relationship building to budget planning to moving chicken tractors. Thus, a passion for regenerative agriculture is required. The role also requires someone who can successfully move between communities from farms, to churches, to Boardrooms. Who understands small town rural culture, affluent suburbs, and urban city dwellers. What is your passion? What do you have experience in? What would you love to do? While we\xe2\x80\x99ve outlined the organizational needs and ideal applicant above and in the below job description, you may have some significant ability to focus the role based on your skills and passion. We are building a well-rounded team that supports each other in doing what each of us do best. To Apply It\xe2\x80\x99s easy.
