Job Description


Founded in 1978, the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association (MYHA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated
to serving our member families MYHA operates with an annual revenue of approximately $3-4 million
and 1,200 youth participants. MYHA owns and manages a two-rink facility that includes fitness and
meeting space. The Executive Director reports to the MYHA Board and has overall strategic responsibility for
programs, assets, staff and successful execution of our mission. Leading MYHA\xe2\x80\x99s fundraising goals
and opportunities is a primary focus of the ED. The ED will act as the Board Liaison as they
provide structure to MYHA in tying together the operational and strategic needs. The ED will
achieve these goals by focusing on strategic visioning, fundraising, revenue generation
opportunities and long-term success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be

  • Act as the liaison for the MYHA board and it\xe2\x80\x99s 15 Volunteer Board Members
  • Build and maintain working relationships with Board members to establish long term objectives and
develop strategies for success
  • Serve as the owner, champion and leader for MYHA Fundraising. Focus on revenue generation
opportunities in the following areas:
o Long-term growth
o Sponsorship opportunities
o Grant writing
o Events
o Additional facility usage outside of Youth Hockey programs
o Off-season opportunities
o Concessions & Retail opportunities
  • Strategize with Board and Gambling Manager to grow, develop and maintain the Charitable Gambling
Program.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with the Minnetonka School District.
  • Establish budgets for MYHA and Pagel in partnership with Board. Oversee and lead a cooperative
budgeting process between the following areas:
o MYHA budget/cost per player per season
o Operating budget for MYHA annually
o Budget for operating costs and revenue for Arena
  • Build and strengthen existing partner relationships with:
o Vendors
o Governing Hockey Bodies
o Business Partners & Sponsors
o Minnetonka School District
o Area Rink Facilities & Associations
  • Assists other departments and employees as necessary.
  • Performs related activities as directed.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: MYHA is looking for a candidate that has a demonstrated ability to create new fundraising
opportunities. The right candidate will have past experience creating revenue growth and developing
ways to best use existing resources for revenue generation. MYHA is a one-of-a-kind youth sports organization that is looking for a leader that will think
outside of the box to bring new ideas to the table while working alongside experienced staff and
volunteers. The right leader with have demonstrated experience leading and supporting staff and
volunteers in a way that empowers them to do the work successfully. The ideal candidate will have experience in a non-profit environment. Past experience with
financial reporting.
Hockey knowledge and experience is not required.
