Job Description


US Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking an innovative, proven industry professional with a Civil Engineering or related background to work on one of our projects in Central Virginia. The successful candidate will review problem statements received from various business units, work with leadership to prioritize initiatives, develop innovative solutions and help operationalize those solutions. This individual should be able to handle multiple work assignments and work with a diverse group of stakeholders. The successful candidate will possess the identified skills/experience within the client scope of work: Standard Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations:

  • Manages area(s) of responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understands the problem/pain-point, breaks down problems to constituent people \xe2\x80\x93 process - technology components, maps the workflow, develops alternative solutions, works with stakeholders to identify a workable solution, and develops cost/benefit and return on investment calculations.
  • Sound understanding of roadway-related design, construction, materials, maintenance and operations practices and standards are required.
  • Ability to take ownership and work independently with minimal supervision is required.
  • Ability to work with a wide cross section of VDOT staff from senior research scientists and engineers to front line employees is required.
  • Ability to write scope documents, solution documents, and develop PowerPoint presentations is required.
  • Considerable knowledge of Civil/ Transportation Engineering and related disciplines, contract components, techniques and practices.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software applications; particularly technology use in the field of civil engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts, plans and relevant standards, policies and legal requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments and competing priorities.
  • Ability to solve problems, work independently and accomplish work tasks within rigid time constraints.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships and diverse staff.
May be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth above to address business needs and changing business practices. Job Requirements:
Core Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Experience in project scoping and development.
  • Work with various stakeholders and develop innovative solutions to various problems/issues/pain points identified by the agency personnel
  • Documenting and communicating the solutions
  • Applied knowledge of Civil Engineering and related practices, field inspection techniques and practices.
  • Applied knowledge in the use of computers and software applications.
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • Perform field review of work plans and projects, to includes driving a state-owned vehicle or other vehicles to remote sites to meet with project personnel and stakeholders.
  • Perform focused, accurate data management and entry for prolonged periods.
  • Carefully access critical information systems and networks affecting physical roadway infrastructure and electronic assets.
  • Travels to work/ meeting sites in Central Virginia, to include Richmond and Charlottesville areas. Intermittent travel to Northern Virginia may be required.
  • Any other duties assigned by a Supervisor or Senior Project Manager.
Qualifications: Work Experience:
  • Civil/ Transportation and Traffic engineering experience and field management experience preferred.
  • Considerable experience overseeing and monitoring contracts and purchasing of technical services (minimum of 3 years) preferred.
  • Proven ability to comprehend client agency standards, plans and specifications.
  • Experience in contract monitoring and management, inventory management oversight and system situational awareness.
Education:
  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent required.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation and Traffic Engineering, other Engineering discipline, or technical school with related coursework preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for education requirements, subject to
License/Registrations:
  • Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License in good standing required
Other Requirements:
  • Flexible schedule

  • Required VDOT/Industry training
Work Conditions
  • 90-day probation period
  • May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments
  • Work may occur outside along interstate highways requiring necessary safety precautions involved in working with electricity in and alongside traffic.
  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment subject to short or no-notice work assignments and exposure to inclement weather.
  • The work environment is informal, both team and autonomy oriented, having routine tasks with variable pace and pressure.
  • Hourly Rate $40.00 - $48.00
NOTE: This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations. VDOT/Project Management will determine when essential positions are required. A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license is required. DMV records check is required. Pre-employment drug screen is required. Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check is required.
