JOB DESCRIPTION

BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity for an Engineer I/Engineer II or Sr Engineer within our Pipeline Integrity group located at our White Oaks General Office in Bridgeport, WV. Flexible work arrangements including hybrid or compressed schedules may be available and are not guaranteed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As our Pipeline Integrity Engineer you will be involved in both Pipeline Integrity and Corrosion responsibilities.

In this position you will

  • Develop, design, analyze, evaluate, and recommend corrosion control systems, policies, and procedures, to mitigate adverse effects on natural gas transmission.
  • Develop and review gas transmission integrity projects, manage Integrity Management Plan and Risk Ranking and develop corrosion control policies and procedures
  • Evaluate, analyze, and recommend techniques and new technologies to provide effective pipeline integrity programs that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and BHE GT&S\xe2\x80\x99s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
As part of the corrosion responsibilities, you will
  • Facilitate and manage development of standard designs and equipment selections for cathodic protection systems for transmission facilities
  • Review industry best practices and recommend applications for GT&S\xe2\x80\x99s system
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and design support for regulated companies
  • Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by meeting customer needs and pursuing continuous improvement
  • Review/design/approve cathodic protection systems for new pipeline and facility projects.
  • Monitor and audit overall compliance programs and make recommendations
  • Quality check data from corrosion systems going to risk models
  • Lead direct assessments for external corrosion, internal corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking
  • Participate in the in-line inspection field data collection and reviewing results
  • Develop work procedure training for integrity assessment tasks.
The Sr. role is the top progression level position in the engineer series.
  • Includes senior to technical expert engineers able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within functional assignment area.
  • Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.
  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation selection adaptation and modification of standard techniques procedures and criteria.
  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards.
  • At higher levels of proficiency within this classification incumbents are expected to provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed.
  • May be required to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on programs in varied areas and related fields.
  • May serve as a technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Engineer I:
0-2+ years of related engineering experience

Engineer II:
3+ years of related engineering experience

Sr Engineer:
5+ years of relevant engineering experience

Engineer I/ Engineer II:
  • Four-year accredited engineering degree (Engineer)
  • Ability to monitor changes in technology with skill in developing, testing and recommending new ideas and strategies for the utilization of those changes
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering schematics, drawings, and technical manuals
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports, project schedules, and cost estimates
  • Ability to lead, work independently, communicate effectively, and establish rapport
  • Ability to define problems, collect accurate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively operate a personal computer and common software applications.
?Sr Engineer:
  • Four-year accredited engineering degree (Engineer)
  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
  • Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
  • Strong personal computer skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
  • In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.).
  • Equally effective working independently or in team environment.
  • Proven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
Education
Bachelor

Preferred Degree
Engineering required.
