Cataldo is the largest private EMS provider and private ambulance service in Massachusetts. In addition to topping 50,000 emergency medical transportations annually through 911 contacts with multiple cities, we partner with some of Massachusetts top medical facilities to provide non-emergency medical ambulance and wheelchair transportation services. We are also an EMS provider to specialty venues like Fenway Park, Warrior Arena, and TD Garden.

While Cataldo began as an ambulance service company, we continue to grow through innovation and expand the services we offer to the local communities. As a public health resource, Cataldo offers training and education to the healthcare and emergency medical community through the Cataldo Education Center. This includes certification training for new employees as well as the training needed for career advancement. Through our partnerships with health systems, hospitals, managed care organizations, and others, we continue to provide in-home care through the state\xe2\x80\x99s first and largest Mobile Integrated Health program, SmartCare. We also have delivered more than 1.7 million Covid-19 vaccines and continue to operate testing and vaccination sites throughout the state of Massachusetts.

EMS Coordinator Job Benefits

EMS Coordinator

An EMS Coordinator will be onsite at one of our partner hospitals to manage patient medical transportation needs and is responsible for ensuring that each patient receives on time and appropriate ALS, BLS, or wheelchair van transportation. This may include booking calls into our medical dispatch system, gathering necessary paperwork for each transfer, working with hospital staff to prioritize patient transports, and communicating transport times or other updates with hospital staff, patients, and the patients\xe2\x80\x99 families. The EMS coordinator will be the point person to help answer any clinical, logistical, or insurance questions about each patient medical transportation.

EMS Coordinator Duties

- Manages medical transportation needs for patients within the healthcare facility.

- Assists hospital staff with booking appropriate mode of transportation and gathering necessary paperwork.

Coordinates patient prioritizes with hospital staff and medical transportation dispatch center.

Communicates transportation updates with hospital staff, patients, and patients\xe2\x80\x99 families.

- Answers clinical, logistical, or insurance questions regarding medical transportation from patients or their families.

- Provides excellent customer service to patients, their families, and hospital staff.

- Solicits regular feedback from hospital staff and create a structured feedback loop with management and EMS operations.

- Communicate effectively with EMS agencies, physicians, and other healthcare providers.

- Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Must maintain a reliable attendance record.

- Complete other duties as assigned.

EMS Coordinator Qualifications

- Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and an acceptable driving record through a DMV background check

- State certified EMT-B or EMT-P

- CPR certified

Pass a background check including CORI

- Pass a drug screen and lift test

- Commitment to providing exemplary customer service

EMS Coordinator Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and maneuver 125 pounds with assistance and without difficulty

- Ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty

- Ability to lift and carry 125 pounds up and down two flights of stairs with assistance and without difficulty

- Ability to sit, stand, and kneel for long periods of time

Ability to walk without difficulty and without affective the immediate performance of job-related duties
