What you\'ll do

As the EHS Specialist within our Utilimaster division based in Kansas City, MO, you will be accountable for training employees on safety policies and practices, conducting regular inspections, generating health and safety assessment reports, and ensuring that all occupational guidelines and regulations are adhered to.

You will also be involved with managing all aspects of the plant\'s EHS and sustainable development programs. In addition, you will play a critical role in improving EHS workplace performance by promoting an incident-free environment.

You will also be involved with:

  • Improving EHS workplace performance by promoting an incident-free workplace
  • Implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations and policies
  • Identifying and mitigating EHS risk and ensuring EHS compliance within the plant
  • Creating and maintaining EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Identifying and directing environmental and EGS training for employees
  • Guiding and directing assigned business units toward compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, and corporate compliance policies
  • Facilitating and engaging colleagues and partners to drive projects resulting in reductions in the areas of accidents, energy, water usage and waste minimization
  • Ensuring timely submittal of federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulatory reports
  • Conducting inspections and audits throughout the entire manufacturing facility to identify existing or potential hazards
  • Updating and reporting on daily KPIs
  • Maintaining thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local OSHA regulations, safety codes and environmental quality regulations
  • Conducting Job Safety Risk Assessments (JSAs)
  • Coordinating environmental waste disposal and maintaining related manifest records
  • Assisting in incident investigations and practical problem-solving
  • Facilitating Safety Steering Team activities
  • Conducting PPE evaluations and generate visual aids for the plant

What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related scientific discipline and 1+ year of related EHS experience
  • OR
  • 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting in lieu of degree
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
