Job Description

Ducks Unlimited has an opening for a part-time Editorial Intern for summer 2023. The position will be based in DU\xe2\x80\x99s National Headquarters in Memphis, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on DU\xe2\x80\x99s periodical publications, including the bi-monthly Ducks Unlimited magazine and the quarterly Puddler magazine. The position requires experience or academic training in writing, editing, and proofreading, and the candidate should have an interest in pursuing a career in publishing or communications. The successful candidate will report to Eric Keszler, Executive Editor, and work collaboratively with the Publications and Creative teams.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the production of Ducks Unlimited magazine and Puddler magazine.
• Copy edit and proofread copy produced by DU staff and freelance authors.
• Assist in selecting photos and writing captions.
• Write short news articles or other copy for publication.
• Assist with other duties related to administration of DU\xe2\x80\x99s Publications functions, including managing archival publications, shipping magazine copies and other materials to freelance authors, consolidating and archiving past reader surveys, and processing and tracking copyright information.

Qualifications:

Experience and Education:

Pursuing a career in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

Technological Proficiency:

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

Interpersonal Skills:

Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work as part of a team, under strict deadlines, to produce products that reflect well on the organization and its mission.
