Fall Co-op Program: July 11 - December 15, 2023
This position will be part of a research and development team working to support and improve our extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) system. More specifically, this position will focus primarily on benchtop testing (including blood-based testing) conducted to characterize our ECMO system across a variety of different aspects of performance (e.g., gas transfer, hemocompatibility, etc.)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist senior staff in benchtop testing of ECMO system performance and associated data analysis
• Design and/or fabricate testing fixtures or modules
• Develop experimental protocols and/or work towards validating current experimental processes/protocols
• Communicate important findings to the engineering team and other internal stakeholders in the form of written reports and/or verbal presentations

REQUIREMENTS

• Junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in mechanical, biomedical, or chemical engineering or a related field
• Strong design, testing, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience with blood-based gas transfer or hemocompatibility testing in a plus

• Permanent US work authorization required - without sponsorship
