Job Description



Job Summary: Manages supply chain function and activities of those engaged in the purchasing of material, inventory control, logistics and shipping and receiving. Ensures right-sized inventory levels of materials, efficient operation of shipping and receiving work centers, and handling of material and purchased items.
Essential Functions:
This position is accountable for the overall control and movement of materials in and out of the facility. Develop and maintain methods and policies to ensure the most efficient and economical procurement and shipment of materials into and out of the location. Ensure resources are best utilized to achieve both short- and long-term goals. Analyze and evaluate problems with inventory and recommend solutions. Provide periodic reports to executive management. Ensure a qualified staff for the area of responsibility exists through appropriate hiring, training, and development.
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate evaluation of suppliers to assure material/component availability of the highest quality for the lowest price.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive policies for raw materials, work-in-process / finished goods inventory controls, and inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Determine reporting solutions to identify inaccuracies in data, analyze findings and initiate improvements.
  • Manage inventory costs to keep them at the appropriate levels.
  • Ensure monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on compliance with raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory management programs.
  • Manage activity of shipping / receiving function to ensure timely, accurate availability of quality components to production departments throughout the organization.
  • Negotiate and authorize contracts with equipment and materials suppliers and freight companies.
  • Ensure appropriate processes are in place for the selection of shipping methods and import/export requirements.
  • Administer and support MTM\xe2\x80\x99s quality system, policies, and corporate culture of 6S/Lean/Six Sigma, through participation in meetings and day-to-day contact with employees.
  • Ensure appropriate communications occur within your own area as well between the area of responsibility and internal/external customers.
  • Design, develop, and deliver training and education programs related to key processes to support departmental and company metrics.
  • Investigate anomalies; ensure appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform managerial administrative tasks as required per company policy and procedure.
  • Administer departmental budget and authorize payments to vendors and service providers.
  • Travel as requested for customer/supplier visits.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Oversee the ongoing continual improvement of the supply chain utilizing best practices of 6S, and Lean Six Sigma methods. Final authority regarding processes within the area of direct responsibilities, in accordance with company policy and procedure. The managerial authority regarding personnel issues in accordance with company policy and legal requirements, including hiring and termination. Approval of overtime schedules for personnel assigned to the area. Determine access authorizations to software/databases and restricted facility areas within the area of responsibility.

Environment:
Works in both an office and shop environment. Employee may frequently be subject to:
  • High noise levels from machinery
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
  • Breathing fumes, dust, and mist
  • Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids
  • Welding flashes
  • Warehouse operations
Travel: Must be available and willing to travel as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Working Conditions:
  • Works in a typical office setting.
  • Spends time in a typical fabrication and machine shop environment.
  • May be required to work some overtime.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Accountable for Purchasing, Inventory Control, Shipping / Receiving.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time.
  • Some bending and stooping required. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to within normal range to read numbers, reports, and to view computer terminals.
  • Requires hearing correctable to within normal range for telephone use and communication.

Additional Comments:
  • ERP Implementation experience a plus.
  • Infor Visual experience a plus.
