Title: Director, Strategic Planning

Department - Strategic Planning

Media Planners at Mindshare are part psychologists, part scientists, part artists, part entrepreneurs, and part politicians. We strategize how brands should communicate with people across the myriad of media channels, and how to do that differently from every other brand.

Quick Notes

  • Responsible for the Strategic Planning of all national media channels and driving connection with the Commerce team
  • Critical role on the Mindshare Unilever team, responsible for leading a set of junior Strategic Planners and creating strong collaboration within the Mindshare cross-functional team which includes Investment, Audience Planning, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Commerce, etc
  • Minimal travel to to Englewood Cliffs, NJ (UL headquarters) and partner agency (creative, PR) locations in NYC
High-Level Snapshot of the Overall Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading the client relationship on Unilever\'s Hair brands including Dove, Nexxus, Tresemme on a day-to-day basis, keeping Mindshare Unilever Leadership in the loop on priority workstreams
  • Comfortable speaking to/ presenting to senior clients
  • Able to answer questions on the fly
  • Skilled at managing clients: keeping them focused on the priorities and working together to find solutions
  • Brings together the cross-functional Mindshare team for integration across paid media campaigns at all stages of the campaign lifecycle from briefing to planning to activation to reporting/ analytics
  • Directly responsible and accountable for actively coaching and managing the Strategic Planning team
  • Works with the team to set overall media strategy and communication goals for each campaign using a variety of sources including: current brief, consumer trends, historical performance, client/ agency priorities, marketplace realities, etc
  • Works with the team to design appropriate and detailed media mixes that address the client brief across all national media channels
  • Identifies, develops and manages multi-channel opportunities
  • Responsible for ensuring that media spend does not exceed client-approved budgets
  • Directly responsible and accountable to ensuring that the Strategic Planning team is collaborating with the larger cross-functional Mindshare to drive excellence in the activation and reporting/ analytics phases
  • Brings the lens of Strategic Planning to all parts of the campaign lifecycle like vendor selection and measurement/ analytics, ensuring that all teams are continuing to deliver on the client brief and overall media strategy and coaches the junior Strategic Planning team to do the same
What you\'ve already conquered
  • Strong executive presence, including excellent verbal/ written skills and the ability to distill complex information down in ways that are easily understood
  • Exceptional organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and detail-oriented nature
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Media Tools and Telmar is a plus
  • Minimum of eight years\' experience preferredThe base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $100,000 to $230,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
