Prisoners\xe2\x80\x99 Legal Services of New York (PLS) is seeking to hire a Human Resources (HR) Director to work from its Albany office. The HR Director is responsible for the administration of human resource programs, to 1) ensure legal compliance with employment and labor laws and 2) oversee and develop PLS\xe2\x80\x99 recruitment efforts and employee relations, consistent with PLS\xe2\x80\x99 social justice mission. ob Description The HR Director\xe2\x80\x99s job responsibilities include administering and overseeing human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and recruitment; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. The HR Director must also collaborate with the management team and Board of Directors to understand the organization\xe2\x80\x99s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention. The ideal candidate will have a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or similar credential in HR, Business Administration, or a related field, and at least eight years of HR management experience, preferably in a legal or not-for-profit environment. The candidate will have computer software knowledge and skills, preferably using Microsoft Office Suite, including, but not limited to, Excel. The HR Director must have a strong working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, labor laws, and accompanying regulations. The HR Director must also be familiar with organizational employment/labor compliance requirements and be able to conduct internal trainings on such matters. The HR Director reports to PLS\xe2\x80\x99 General Counsel. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communications, critical thinking, and organizational skills. The candidate will also possess the ability to build trusting, productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The candidate should have at least five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as the head of HR, with a proven track record of partnering directly with senior leadership to develop, align and implement HR and organizational development strategies. Experience working in a unionized workplace is highly preferred. Salary and Benefits PLS is a unionized program offering a salary that is competitive with other public interest law firms in upstate New York, and sets salaries depending on experience. This title is a non-union management position, and is not governed by a collective bargaining agreement. The candidate must be based in Albany, NY or willing to relocate to Albany (a hybrid work schedule is possible, but not a fully remote option). The candidate must also be willing and able to travel regularly for work, including to PLS offices throughout New York State. SALARY TRANSPARENCY: In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000. The specific salary offers will be dependent on candidate qualifications.
