Of course, to fulfill AVID\xe2\x80\x99s mission, we have hired a dedicated and passionate group of educators and professionals across many disciplines to be part of our internal team. We are hiring a Director of Human Resources to serve as a leader on our HR team as we work to maintain AVID as a people-centric organization. WHAT IS THE JOB? In this role, you will report directly to our Senior Director of Human Resources. You\xe2\x80\x99ll work closely with our team of dedicated HR professionals to lead the recruitment, payroll, and benefits functions of the organization through creative, strategic, and data-driven initiatives. WHO ARE YOU?

  • You are a leader who has experience supervising and delegating tasks to a team of dedicated collaborators and bring a minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a Human Resources function which provides HR consulting to organization leaders.

  • You are a process-driver who is always looking for ways to refine and enhance processes, procedures, planning tools, and performance objectives as they relate to HR functions and services.

  • You lead with a growth mindset and seek to always expand your HR knowledge and skillset, staying up to date on federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure organizational compliance, with a particular focus on California employment law.
  • You are a systems-builder who seeks to put pathways and skills matrices in place for employee advancement, growth, and promotion within AVID.
  • You are an advocate for our people and create opportunities for employee professional development while also implementing education for new initiatives, changes in policies or regulatory requirements, and other programs as needed.
  • You are in the details, as you will be responsible for timely and accurate processing of payroll, personnel files, staffing analyses, audits, data compliance/reporting, employee records, FMLA, Workers\xe2\x80\x99 Compensation, and employee reclassification.
  • You are a team builder who will work to create recruitment strategies to continue building a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
NICE TO HAVES?
  • Multi-state leadership and management experience.
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM certification or equivalent HR certifications.
  • Previous experience working with UKG/UltiPro.
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in HR, Business Administration, management, or related field.

  • Competitive salary: the salary range for this role is $135,000 - $145,000 annually depending on experience and location.

  • Flexibility in work location: This position may work 100% remote in any of the four time zones in the continental U.S. with an option for hybrid work in our San Diego Campus.
  • Generous Paid Time Off: This position is eligible for 27 days of PTO per year, with 12 paid holidays.

Experience

Required
  • Experience providing HR consulting to organization leaders
  • 5 year(s): Experience in Human Resources or related field to include recruitment, payroll, and benefits administration
Preferred
  • Expertise in California employment law
  • Experience working in a fully remote or hybrid setting, particularly one that works across multiple time zones
  • Supervisory and/or team leadership experience
  • Successful experience working in complex and diverse school systems or organizations

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Human Resource Administration or related field
Preferred
  • Masters or better in Human Resource Administration or related field
