The Director of Club Sports will work with all club sports teams and coaches as well as overseeing the intramural program.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the recruitment of all club sports athletes into Sacred Heart University
  • Work closely with Undergraduate Admissions to ensure that proper notification and communication is given to all prospective club sport athletes. This includes assist with open houses, accepted student days, virtual presentations, virtual Q&A\'s and other various admission events
  • Collaborate with University Marketing and Communications on a cohesive marketing plan regarding club sports team and operations including logos, website, social media and other areas in order to promote the University and club sports
  • Responsible for the development of all recreation programs, coordination and operations. This includes but is not limited to evaluating each sport and program offerings on a yearly basis
  • Work closely with the Club Sports Athletic Training staff
  • Work with Human Resources on the hiring and onboarding of club sports coaches, ensuring that coaches are properly compensated, trained and an official part of the SHU employee work force.
  • Work directly with DSE Rec to ensure that all software is working for all areas of recreation
  • Ensure that all teams have apparel websites and are outfitted properly and safely
  • Provide an updated calendar of all club sports events on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Schedule all of the practices and majority of game schedules for all club sport teams
  • Manage budgets for the entire department, facility, and all club sports teams. This includes overseeing all fundraising opportunities, expenses and dues collection.
  • Must be proficient with SHU EBuy on all purchases for all club sports teams, facility, fitness classes and any other potential expenses such as paying officials
  • Work closely with a contracted vendor to ensure that teams have the proper bus transportation to and from selected events. This includes giving the vendor representative the pick up location and time, drop off location and time and if necessary the additional overnight accommodations.
  • Utilize PioConnect to track freshmen and sophomore students
  • Utilize Slate to communicate with prospective students. This also includes running lists/queries of prospective students for coaches and teams to remain in constant communication.
  • Overseeing all Club Sports staff including part time coaches
  • Holding weekly staff meetings to go over scheduling, any issues, etc.
  • Respond to all emails and telephone calls received from parents, students, vendors or coaches
  • Work closely with Esports program to continue to develop and grow to be one of the primary leaders in the northeast area
  • Read about daily, weekly and yearly trends in all areas of recreation
  • Constant communication with all league commissioners and area coordinators
  • Attend club sports home games as well as away playoff games and competitions
  • Attend minimum of 2 conferences per academic year relating to club sports, intramural, recreation, facility management or professional development
  • Create a robust intramural program schedule utilizing various spaces through the Valentine Health and Recreation Center as well as turf fields.
  • Oversee the intramural schedule and ensure that teams are created and leagues have a robust schedule for all participants.
  • Keep up to date intramural standings via website and social media platforms to ensure the highest quality of experience.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

The successful Candidate will possess the following:
  • Masters degree in related field
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • 8-10 years\' experience in Recreation
  • RCRSP preferred
