Overview

We are seeking a Director of Business Development (Utilities) for the Mid-Atlantic region to assist in developing TRC\'s business, across all lines of business in the Utility Market Sector. The position requires strong business development, and client services skills, ideally with a background associated with the Utility Market. Expected travel up to 50%.

You will be a key member of TRC\'s Utility Market Business Development Team, responsible for corporate-wide business development relating to TRC\'s full line of service offerings. This includes participation in the development of TRC\'s strategic vision for Texas cultivating and maintaining senior level relationships with clients, expanding brand awareness of TRC in the Mid-Atlantic region while promoting and selling TRC services.

The role of the Director of Business Development will fundamentally be to provide leadership in the lead identification process and thereafter for the proposing on and ultimately securing of multi-practice opportunities with strategically important clients. Secondarily, similar support for other opportunities across the region may be required as necessary. In this role, the Director of Business Development will be a key liaison to the client, advocate for the client and help develop win themes to secure work.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key and strategic clients
  • Build strategic company-to-company relationships with key enterprise-wide decision makers
  • Manage targeted client accounts to leverage cross sector growth
  • Nurture long-term relationships to become client\'s "Trusted Advisor"
  • Understand and articulate our value proposition, positioning us to take advantage of our clients\' growth strategies
  • Identify and pursue opportunities that ensure achieving revenue and backlog growth that meets or exceeds TRC\'s targets for each Fiscal Year
  • Work with senior TRC management to develop, prioritize, and implement market strategies to grow market penetration
  • Collaborate with TRC\'s operating sectors to pursue new business opportunities and initiatives with Texas Utility clients
  • Support the development and execution of business development plans that support the cross sell of TRC services
  • Fully capable of utilizing TRC\'s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
Client Advocate
  • Acts as an extension of the client, making sure client needs and expectations are understood and being met by TRC
  • Keeps the client informed of significant issues that may affect the client\'s business
  • Conducts meetings with the client to monitor performance
  • Assesses client satisfaction with TRC. Follows up on client concerns, involves appropriate TRC management as necessary.
  • Provides client feedback to TRC on changing needs, trends, expectations, and satisfaction
Market Development
  • Expands TRC\'s profitability with the assigned markets and account(s) by:
  • Increasing sales
  • Broadening service offerings (cross-selling)
  • Increasing number of client locations served
  • Achieving preferred supplier status
  • Periodically reintroducing TRC to the client and any new services and capabilities
  • Tracking opportunities across client\'s entire business line
  • Look for opportunities to up-scope, offer turnkey work, and capture a larger scope of work for TRC
  • Teams with operations management to expand the offerings to the client
  • Assist in proposal strategy and approach development by scoping proposals, assisting in key proposal preparation, participating in "red team" reviews and, as applicable, lead the effort to obtain debriefs
Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Science, or Business Management preferred; Graduate degree a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in an engineering and consulting firm setting.
  • Possess good relationships with clients in the Utility Market Sector
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Personable, with very strong communication skills, and possess the desire to lead an aggressive business expansion in a fast paced and dynamic market.
  • Successful track record of leading business development initiatives to exceed revenue targets
  • Lead internal client teams.
  • Possess strong Client Facing Business Development experience.
  • Strong creativity and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to grow and maintain relationship with any individual, irrespective of the background and type of personality
