Hybrid role preferred, Mesa, AZ

Reports to Chief People Officer

Base plus 30% bonus and Equity

Background required: Primary experience in benefits at a Director level in large multi-location organization

Scope

The Benefits Director serves as a functional leader, responsible for creating, implementing and communicating the employee benefits plans, strategy, and initiatives. This position reports to the Chief People Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continually research the benefits market, trends, regulations and practices, and develop competitive programs and services to support our \xe2\x80\x9cpeople first\xe2\x80\x9d culture and meet company goals, planning short- and long-term modifications accordingly to safeguard employees against loss of income due to illness, injury or retirement
  • Provide functional leadership in the development, implementation, administration, and communication of benefits programs such as medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), paid time off, leave and voluntary programs
  • Lead project management of annual benefits open enrollment; partner closely with HRIS team for configuration, integration builds and testing
  • Manage vendor relationships \xe2\x80\x93 benefits providers, consultants, brokers and auditors
  • Fulfill compliance and reporting requirements by maintaining current knowledge of government rules and regulations related to Leave of Absence, Worker Compensation, ACA and benefits in partnership with the legal team
  • Design and distribute benefit communication materials to employees and managers through various media
  • Create innovative processes and solutions in anticipation of market trends
  • Direct annual enrollment process, including systems setup, testing, communication, and training
  • Build, direct and mentor a small staff engaged in the benefits department\'s programs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s or master\'s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, or a similar field
  • 10+ years of senior level benefits management in a large, multi-location retail organization with a diverse employee population.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
  • CEBS certification.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Deep experience in benefits design and administration, and HR systems/applications
  • Must be a seasoned HR professional with a high degree of professional integrity and discretion.
  • Effective communication, human relations, presentation, coordination and negotiating skills.
  • Must be able to and enjoy handling multiple, diverse activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience leading HR projects (e.g., system implementations and benefit cycles, etc.)
