OVERVIEW OF CCA

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of the Office of Disability and Equity (ODE) reports to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and is responsible for the leadership, administration and coordination of accessibility services for all CCA students. Through reviewing documentation and authorizing accommodations, the ODE Director ensures all qualified CCA students with disabilities receive equal access to education and the educational services, programs, and activities they need as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws pertaining to persons with disabilities. The Director manages the student accommodations process and provides support to students, faculty and the community to promote equal access to education and success.

Additionally, the ODE office is part of the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and works in collaboration with other DEI offices to increase awareness and understanding of DEI, and identify/create infrastructure and implement efforts that encourages equitable student success as an institutional imperative.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
Administrative
  • Lead the coordination of all ODE related services and accommodations to include, assistive technology, interpretation services, texts in alternate format, extended-time testing, etc.
  • Integrate Disability and Equity plan into the planning and goals of the College Strategic Plan
  • Manage Office of Disability and Equity including hiring, training, supervising and evaluating all permanent, temporary and work-study staff.
  • Develop and monitor multiple budgets and seek grant funding to support office operations as needed.
  • Develop and/or revise, and implement operational guidelines for the ODE office and related CCA institutional guidelines
  • Collaborate with all areas across the campus to create an accessible campus environment.
  • Conduct Program evaluation and assessment of efforts. Use this information to create annual progress reports for the office.

Student Support Services
  • Review documentation and provide accommodations to students
  • Track student performance data
  • Conduct/implement holistic case management that includes monitoring of progress, providing accommodations, and referring students to resources as needed.

Faculty/Staff Support
  • Serve as resource and provide guidance to faculty, instructors, and staff on students with disabilities, ADA/504 responsibilities, and related accommodations
  • Develop and provide educational opportunities focused on working with students with disabilities.
  • Work with faculty, instructors, and staff College committees, and other work groups to build and maintain productive relationships to ensure student success.
  • Work with area high schools to assist concurrent enrollment students
  • Participate in educational resource fairs as appropriate.

Other
  • Serve on CCA committees or task forces as related



Minimum qualifications & Requirements


  • Master\'s degree in Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge and practice incorporating services in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws pertaining to persons with disabilities
  • Experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse identities, cultures and backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience providing supervision and performance management over professional personnel.
  • Experience providing leadership over disability services in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic tests and conducting interpretation of test results.
  • Working knowledge of assistive technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Experience working with Faculty or Instructors.
  • Experience in conducting interactive process with students.
  • Engagement in national, regional, and local professional organizations (i.e., AHEAD, Access Higher Ground, NASPA/ACPA).
  • Willingness to engage in training and development related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and to remain current with Disability related practice.

Supplemental information

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range: $66,721.00 - $70,000.00. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
