Overview As the strategic leader of the Marketing team, the Director, Marketing plays a key role in building HSSV\xe2\x80\x99s brand, expanding our reach in the community, attracting supporter/donor interest, enhancing the visibility of our organization, and celebrating our successes. This is a highly collaborative role; the ideal individual is outcome-oriented, passionate about marketing excellence, and possesses strong leadership skills. The ability to innovate, drive change, and work at both a strategic and operational level is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy to reach and engage target audiences by integrating online and offline channels, using a variety of mediums, including social media, video, website including blogs, email including e-newsletter, print, public relations, promotions, and events.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to promote consistent messaging and branding across all channels, including compelling collateral such as annual reports, program one-pagers, and signage that inspire and motivate diverse audiences through varied channels.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team, including hiring, team building, communication, training, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation that strives to achieve better results every day through creativity and experimenting with different visual mediums.
  • Build processes and tools that enable HSSV to be a storytelling machine that inspires donors and raises awareness of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s mission-driven impact.
  • Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson while leveraging multiple voices to enhance HSSV\xe2\x80\x99s message in media and advertising campaigns. Work with the Marketing Manager to develop media pitches and other content.
  • Oversee marketing for the Mutual Rescue program, including social media and website management.
  • Build HSSV\xe2\x80\x99s brand by designing and executing community events that increase awareness of our programs and impact.
  • Develop and manage a line of HSSV-branded products to promote and increase awareness of the organization.
  • Promote cross-collaboration and a \xe2\x80\x9cservice culture\xe2\x80\x9d within the Marketing team. Lead the team to understand that Marketing is a support system for all the departments at HSSV and find ways to cross-collaborate.
  • Develop and manage the annual Marketing department budget while achieving program goals.
  • Partner with a core group of expert marketing service providers for the breadth and depth of skills needed to deliver successful marketing programs.
  • Attract and energize a talented pool of volunteers to increase the Marketing team\xe2\x80\x99s capacity.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements
  • Proven experience leading and inspiring a group of ambitious and goal-oriented professionals at both the strategic and execution levels, preferably some experience in a non-profit or animal welfare organization. Previous PR/Media experience is a plus. Subject matter expert with hands-on experience, comprehensive offline and digital marketing knowledge, and planning and executing multiple marketing programs that accomplish objectives within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations, action plans, and results.
  • Must be high energy and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed goals. Problem-solving, research, and analytical/data-driven skills.
  • Proficiency with online platforms, including CRM systems, marketing automation, social media, content, analytics, and advertising.
  • Some knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite, including graphic design and layout experience, understanding of social media, and web content management.
  • Experience leading successful events that achieve intended outcomes.
  • Expertise in finding and managing outstanding vendors who augment organizational capabilities, e.g., writers, photographers, and public relations firms.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and leverage metrics relevant to marketing/fundraising and to translate insights into action.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with internal and external audiences in various communication styles and with multiple stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills with fundraising/sales and operational counterparts.
  • Must be self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed goals. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Work Days and Hours
Primarily day schedule Monday-Friday and is required to participate in Marketing events throughout the year that are on evenings and/or weekends.
