The Role

The Fiduciary Officer is responsible for providing subject matter expertise on fiduciary guidance, trust administration and estate planning concepts to Fidelity Personal Trust Company, FSB (FPTC) associates across multiple business lines, including personal trust accounts and directed trustee/paying agent accounts for retirement plans. Fiduciary Officers routinely rely on their expertise while collaborating with FPTC team members, Fidelity associates, clients, and clients\xe2\x80\x99 counsel to tailor creative trust solutions to complex matters. The Fiduciary Officer\xe2\x80\x99s unique role also requires legal and fiduciary experience to identify and/or mitigate areas of potential risk to FPTC. This position is suitable for anyone living in the Delaware area or the Massachusetts, Rhode Island or New Hampshire area as it offers significant flexibility to work from home.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • J.D. required
  • Minimum of 6 to 8 years of estate planning, trust administration, risk and/or wealth planning experience with a law firm, trust bank or in the financial services industry
  • Experience with various types of trusts and estate planning documents, income and principal accounting, personal and trust income taxation, estate tax, charitable trusts, gift tax, GST tax, investments, trust and estate law, retirement plans, and the laws and regulations that govern
  • Ability to think analytically and strategically and relay complex situations clearly and effectively
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills executed in a positive and timely manner
  • Ability to work independently, juggle multiple tasks, and prioritize work to maintain both accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong legal research and drafting background, collaboration skills, and ability to function as a team player
  • Willingness to engage in coaching, advising, and training with respect to fiduciary principles, procedures, trust administration, estate planning concepts and risk mitigation
  • Collaborate and consult with advisors, attorneys, and tax professionals
  • CTFA, CFP, LLM or MBA encouraged
The Team

Fidelity Personal Trust Company, FSB (FPTC) is a federally chartered trust company that offers personal trust services to Fidelity\xe2\x80\x99s high net worth customers in every state. As a subject matter expert, the Fiduciary Officer provides fiduciary guidance and risk oversight to ensure proper administration of FPTC\xe2\x80\x99s trust business. The position interfaces directly with prospects, clients, clients\xe2\x80\x99 counsel, and advisors supporting FPTC\xe2\x80\x99s high net worth clients. In addition to engaging with clients, the role works with Trust Officers, Trust Administrators, Tax, Trust Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Legal to meet fiduciary, regulatory, and statutory responsibilities and reports directly to the Chief Fiduciary Officer.
