Role

The Deput Project Services Manager will be tasked with providing pro-active cost, schedule, and risk management support to the Project Services Manager regarding the optimization of projects and definition of appropriate schedule, cost, and risk Project Baselines. This role has a focus on medium to large-sized mining and chemical projects.

This position is based at the Reno, NV, Business Office with frequent travel to various job sites. The Deputy Project Services Manager will report to the Project Services Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures to ensure that data are recorded correctly in the company financial system.
  • Oversight of project delivery performance relative to Project and Contract Baselines and application of effective project controls practices by Engineering and Construction Contractor teams
  • Reviews all Project Changes in accordance with the approved Change Management Procedure.
  • Provide proactive cost, schedule, and risk management input during all Project Phases to support an optimized project configuration for all project scope of work and agree on the schedule, cost, and risk baselines
  • Oversee project delivery performance against Project Baselines and ensure the application of appropriate project controls practice
  • Liaise with Procurement, Sourcing or Contracts department providing support on the development, documentation, review and awarding of RFPs, purchase orders, and contracts
  • Highlighting areas of concern for potential cost and schedule variances, propose actions or solutions where possible with the aim of maintaining the project baseline objectives
  • Develop and deliver protocols to ensure effective funding and cost analyses
  • Develop and execute project scheduling and budgeting programs and their review processes
  • Develop project strategy for effective environmental, health and safety programs
  • Coordinate construction activities to ensure the Project is successfully executed
  • Support the evaluation and selection of advance technologies
  • Engage in relevant contractor relationships and technology partnership programs
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Mineral Processing, Mineral Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or relevant degree
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience with increasing leadership roles within mining and process operations, and project development and execution
  • Work closely with LNC engineering, environmental, safety and HR teams, along with contractors and key stakeholders to the Project
  • Work within an organization that prioritizes a culture of teamwork, safety, and environmental stewardship
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in providing analysis of project cost forecasts
  • Positively influence others through collaboration and relationship-development, building rapport with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work involves complex or novel assignments requiring diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. Work requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices.
  • Outstanding communication and organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and run several projects in parallel, while prioritizing and pursuing critical-path tasks on an accelerating schedule
  • Ability to critically challenge assumptions, think outside the box , and deliver creative solutions on-time, on-budget, without compromising on quality
  • Be a self-starter: highly motivated, able to work independently, with high energy
  • Familiarity with resource extraction, technical report development, safety programs and implementation, and state and federal permitting
  • Experience with all facets of capital projects leadership including but not limited to engineering design, technical review, financial analysis, strategic planning, project scheduling and execution, contract development and negotiation
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen to contribute to the broader organization s success required
  • Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and OSHA, MSHA requirements
  • Must have good comprehension of environmental compliance, rules, regulations, reporting, policies, and emergency procedures.
